Blog Title And Picture Explained

Isaiah 60:3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light,

I shot the Headline picture while wandering around in a tropical rain forest; our favorite place on earth. I took this shot inside a huge tropical fig tree. The contrasts captivated me, and this picture actually inspired my blog title.

Life may sometimes seem like a jungle, all tangled and confused, but life's experiences have proven to me that God's light always filters somewhere though the tangled vines. I have learned it is to my benefit to follow that light where ever it leads. Follow The Light is an expression of life's true quest: the pursuit of God. My posts are a written expression of my journey while following the light. May you find my blog helpful on your journey, and please feel free to share your experiences as you follow the light.

Jesus Reads Hearts

Mark 2:8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

A few months back I proved by Scripture that Jesus could both read and write. Here Now we find he can also read and write on human hearts.

To know Jesus can read my heart makes praying so much more inviting. He knows me better than my closest companion. It also enhances my understanding of grace. These men could not hide their doubts and internal sins from Him, and I am unable to hide mine. Jesus knows all about my doubt and sin. Yet... He still loves me, and died for me.

He also confronts me about my wayward thoughts… sometimes very openly, just like he did with these men. Sometimes He writes a private message of conviction on my heart. How should I respond to such glaring revelations? With anger or resentfulness? Or with the careful repentance of one who knows His wounds of love are for my growth and benefit. Please... write on my heart Lord Jesus.

Number 3 on Facebook's Religion Blogs

In November of 09 when I first published this post FTL was at #16. I am more than a little bit shocked to now be number 3 on Facebook's religion blogs. That is 15 blogs ahead of richarddawkins.net, the atheistic author of The God Delusion. Those of you who have chosen to follow my blog are responsible for this. Thanks... I think. And thanks to those who have given my blog such high ratings. Your kindness is appreciated. I hope I am up to the task... I'll continue to write as I have in the past, and pray God will use my ramblings. Pray...

Eight Eyed Jumping Spiders

I'm sure this is just what you arachnophobes wanted to read about today. A spider able to jump up to 50 times its body height, and able to see better than you. Well… relax... outdoors you’re probably never more than 5 feet from one, and you, most likely, have never been attacked... yet... but they will watch you very closely.

There are over 5,000 species of jumping spider which makes this one I photographed on a recent trip difficult to specifically identify. But he is beautiful, isn’t he?

Their eyes are amazing. First he watches for movement with the eyes on the sides of his head. These eyes provide a wide angle low resolution view. Once he senses movement he will turn to look with his front eyes. These eyes provide better vision in most cases than human eyes, but not as wide a view. They must move their eyes or body to track their prey. The front eyes also provide a telephoto view in color. The color range is extreme. They generally see UV rays and various color spectra hidden to human eyesight. The side front eyes provide distance and depth perception as the spider stalks it prey with catlike motion.

When I first examined this spider he was sideways to me. He finally spotted me and was moving to get a better view when I snapped this shot. Eight eyes! God is amazing!
